Sheryl J. “Sheri” Sievert (nee Bachmann), 48, New Lenox, died Sunday, April 28, surrounded by her family, after a fierce four-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She attended New Lenox grade schools, was a 1989 graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School, and a 1990 graduate of Professional’s Choice Hair Design Academy. She was employed for many years by the Barber’s Chair of Morris and New Lenox. Sheri is survived by her husband, Frank Sievert, her daughter, Lexie Sievert, her parents, Duncan and Allene Bachmann, her sister Kimberly (Matthew) Bachmann-LeBeau. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Tonya (Ray) Olson, her father-in-law, Dan (Connie) Sievert, her sister-in-law, Tracey (Ritchie) Walls, her niece Makenzie (Nathan) Taylor, and her grandmother-in-law, Bev Sievert. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Sheri was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Milton and Blanche Gill and her paternal grandparents, Charles and Eleanor Bachmann and grandparents-in-law Betty and Fred Blevins. Per Sheri’s wishes no funeral services will be held. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private. A celebration of her life will be held be held on Saturday, May 11, from 1-5 p.m. at the Lockport American Legion, 15052 Archer Ave, Lockport. A memorial benefit will be held at 3 p.m. on July 13, at Ingall’s Park AC, 20 North. Park Road, Joliet, IL. Mary Ellen Welker, 91, New Lenox, died Friday, April 19. Mary was formerly employed for Old Country Buffet and retired from McDonald’s in New Lenox. Surviving are two children, Michele (Rick) Tomlinson of New Lenox and Steven Knize; three grandchildren, MaryJo (Michael) Elkins, Shannon (Rob) Tomlinson, and Domineec (Collin) Tomlinson; five great-grandchildren, Dominnic Brandt, Diamond and Danay Buchanan, Thomas and Trenton Schoenbeck; two sisters, Betty and Lily; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her fur babies: her deer, Patty; her pony; Candy; and her beloved dogs, Baby, Marshall, Ryder, Duke, Ave, and Tucker. Preceding her in death were her parents the James and Mary (nee Poreca) Welker; former husband, Vernon “Snuffy”; and six siblings, Harold, Jerome, Alice, Bobby, Leonard, and Jimmy. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Mary Ellen Scarpaci (nee Stewart), 82, of New Lenox, died Wednesday, May 1. Wife for 63 years to the late Michael S.; mother of Sherry, Mike and Jim (Lorie); grandmother of Jennifer (Jason) Stoiner and John “JT” (Chrissy) Selvage, Bryan, Joe (Aurora) and Betsy (Jennifer) Scarpaci, Lexi, Derrick, Regina and Joseph Scarpaci; great-grandmother of Addyson, William, Matthew, Angelina, Tristan, Rosie and Madelyn; sister of Carol Stewart, Lois (late Leo) Kohs, the late William Stewart and the late Wayne Stewart; aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visitation, a memorial service and funeral service were held at Colonial Chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
