Lincoln-Way West coach Dave Ernst carries a resemblance to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick when it comes to football.

Not only has Ernst created a winning culture in the Warriors’ program for many years, he has a laser-focused, straight-faced demeanor during games that looks as if nothing seems to faze him. But even he had to crack when talking to his players one last time as a group following West’s 20-10 Class 7A quarterfinal loss to Batavia (11-1) Saturday, Nov. 11 in New Lenox.
