The New Lenox Village board of trustees held its biweekly meeting April 9, and the most pressing item on the agenda was the status of the New Lenox Fire Protection District following a failed referendum on March 20 that looked to increase the tax rate for needed funding. The failed tax referendum forced NLFPD to shutdown one of its four fire stations, and cut funds to community programs.
