Any outdoor activity or event, particularly in autumn, runs the risk of being adversely affected by weather conditions.

All one can do when planning something months in advance is set a date and hope for the best, and let the chips fall where they may. Until humankind develops machines that can control the weather, atmospheric disturbances are out of our hands.
