With a goal of 21 donations, New Lenox Boy Scout Troop 44 nearly doubled their goal of blood collection at this year’s drive with 37 donations.

Although not everyone who signed up to donate was able to, as with any blood drive, but at least 45 people turned out to give it a shot Jan. 3 at the troop-sponsored blood drive with Heartland Blood Centers.

“This so far is our best turnout in the last probably three or four years, so that’s great,” said Scoutmaster Bill Schade. “The people in New Lenox come to support the troop and the blood center.”
