I went to Hinsdale South High School. It’s not known for many athletic accolades, besides maybe being the badminton capital in the state. The Hornets’ sports resume, at least through my time there, was good, not great, and it made things worse knowing that we had a rival school less than a 10-minute drive away that was amazing at everything: Hinsdale Central. It seemed like they were better than us at every sport, except badminton. They were the bigger school being in the 8A class for football, while South was in 6A, so a win over them in any sport was more rewarding for us than it was for them.
