Moments after his team’s dramatic, walk-off win to clinch a trip to the state finals, St. Laurence baseball coach Pete Lotus’ thoughts turned to a game being played simultaneously four miles away.

“Did Marist win?” Lotus asked as his players continued to celebrate.

Of course, Lotus – a New Lenox resident - had good reason to wonder about the Marist softball game. His daughter, Easton, is a sophomore shortstop for the RedHawks and the team’s leadoff hitter.
