Providence sophomore Ryan Boersma is not letting his No. 1 ranking get to his head.

Boersma, who made it to state as a freshman 220-pounder last season, is ranked as the top heavyweight in the state by the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association.

“There’s not any extra pressure,” Boersma said. “It’s a great honor, but it doesn’t mean too much.

“It’s been good. I’ve had a great season so far, with only one loss and that guy was from Detroit, so I won’t see him again for a long time.”
