When the Providence softball team went to state for the first time in 2012, it had to rally to win a thrilling Class 3A Supersectional game by the score of 4-3 in eight innings over Geneseo at Seneca.

After six seasons, the Celtics returned for another opportunity in a supersectional. This time things were a bit easier, but not any less special as they scored early and often to defeat Normal University High 11-1 in six innings on June 4 to capture the title of the Illinois-Wesleyan Supersectional in Bloomington.
